professional scrum master certification
Professional Scrum Master (PSM) is a certification offered by Scrum.org, which validates your knowledge and understanding of Scrum and your ability to apply it in real-world scenarios. Scrum.org is a widely recognized organization in the Agile community, founded by Ken Schwaber, one of the co-creators of Scrum.
There are three levels of Professional ScrumMaster certification:
- PSM I (Professional ScrumMaster level 1): This is the foundation level certification that validates your basic knowledge of Scrum, its terminology, principles, and theory.
- PSM II (Professional ScrumMaster level 2): This certification demonstrates an advanced level of Scrum mastery. PSM II certificate holders have proven an understanding of the underlying principles of Scrum and can effectively apply Scrum in complex, real-world situations.
- PSM III (Professional ScrumMaster level 3): This is the highest level of Scrum Master certification offered by Scrum.org. It’s designed for distinguished Scrum Masters who have a deep understanding of the application and practices of Scrum and can effectively teach others.
Each of these certifications requires you to pass an online exam. There are no prerequisites for taking these exams, but Scrum.org recommends taking a training course and thoroughly studying the Scrum Guide and Scrum practice assessments. PSM certifications do not expire and do not require any additional payments or renewals.
While Professional ScrumMaster certification is a good way to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of Scrum, it’s important to remember that successful application of Scrum in the workplace requires more than just passing an exam. Practical experience and continual learning are key to becoming a successful Scrum Master.
