Why is it called sprint in Agile? : The sprint in agile development is a highly effective whiteboard session used to rapidly test and improve features or product backlog items. The name “sprint” comes from the military discipline of infantry, wherein squads would move around the battlefield at high speed, attacking and withdrawing quickly. This concept is ideally suited for software development as it allows for multiple iterations or “pulls” to be done rapidly, iteratively, and allowing for feedback to be easily communicated back to the team while working in close proximity with other members of the same team.
